it's a very strange and special place. Year ago I took my daughter and her boyfriend there and much later, when he decided to propose marriage to her, he took her back , thinking that there he had the best chance of success. He was right.
How wonderful! I love Dungeness, indeed the whole of the Romney Marsh area. I love the desolation and the loneliness; the open sky and the shingle. It is such a gorgeous place.
I had a plan to end my days, eventually, on the Marsh. It’s one of my favourite places. A spot of smuggling would keep the wolf from the door and there would be time to write the great novel during the long wet winter evenings. The better half, however, prefers the Med. Negotiations continue.
